DESCRIPTION:The Library Arts Center and the Newport Public Art Collaborative-a newly-formed partnership with the Newport Area Chamber of Commerce-has worked to create a new vintage postcard-style mural that was installed in downtown Newport this week. This large-scale public art piece\, created in the same style as the popular “Greetings from” postcards\, depicts the Corbin Covered Bridge in the fall\, as well as popular scenes from around town (skating on the Common\, the Opera House\, the Library and more). The mural was painted by artist Heidi Lorenz-the lead artist of the Newport Community Heritage Mural Reproduction in 2022. \nThe mural was installed just in time for the Newport Community Block Party this Friday\, July 21st! We look forward to this vibrant art piece welcoming residents and visitors to the Newport Downtown Historic District when entering downtown from Sunapee Street\, in the heart of the Sugar River Region.⁠

DESCRIPTION:David Francey is a Scottish-born Canadian carpenter-turned-songwriter\, who has become known as “one of Canada’s most revered folk poets and singers” (Toronto Star). Born in Ayrshire\, Scotland to parents who were factory workers\, he moved to Canada when he was twelve. For decades\, he worked across Canada in rail yards\, construction sites\, and in the Yukon bush\, all the while writing poetry\, setting it to melodies in his head and singing it to himself as he worked. \nA truly authentic folk singer\, Francey is a documentarian of the working person who never imagined earning a living from his music. SUMMARY:71st Annual Warner Fall Foliage Festival
DESCRIPTION:The 71st Annual Warner Fall Foliage Festival is scheduled during the upcoming Columbus Day Weekend. The festival begins on Friday\, October 5\, when the midway opens from 6 to 9 PM. The DoBros\, a local folkgrass/rock band\, are scheduled to play on the MainStreet Warner Stage from 7:30 to 10 PM. There will be numerous activities and entertainment throughout downtown on Saturday\, October 6\, from 9 AM to 9 PM\, and Sunday\, October 7\, from 9 AM to 5 PM. Parking is $5 and will be at the west end of town\, with free shuttle bus service to and from the festival. \nThe festival’s center will be located downtown Warner around Main Street\, and there will be easy access to the midway\, food tents and outdoors picnicking. As always\, there will be crafters\, a farmers market\, rides\, food\, parades\, road races\, raffles\, music\, country breakfasts and dinners…and much more. \nA renovated location behind The Foothills restaurant will host an Oxen Pull competition on Saturday starting at 9:30 AM. In this same location\, our very popular Woodsmen competition begins on Sunday at 11 AM. \nThe festival is organized by hundreds of local volunteers. DESCRIPTION:Newport Farmers Market\nFridays on The Common in Newport\, New Hampshire \nThe Newport Farmers’ Market has been operating since the 1990s on the Town Common in Historic Downtown Newport\, New Hampshire. The market started with only a handful of vendors\, and has grown to about 30 full- and part-time vendors\, making us one of the longest-running farmers’ markets in the state. Some of our vendors are even from those early days of the farmers’ market. Our vendors sell everything from vegetables and fruits to baked goods to locally raised meat to preserved foods to goats’ milk soap and handmade crafts. They also sell prepared foods\, such as kettle corn\, lemonade\, ice cream\, and more. \nAll of our farm vendors grow their own vegetables\, fruit\, cut flowers and potted plants\, raise their own animals for milk\, eggs\, fleece and meat\, harvest and jar their own honey\, boil their own maple syrup\, and preserve their own produce in jams and pickles. Their farms are located within 50 miles of Newport\, making all of their farms great sources of locally grown and raised food.
